Part 1: How did transit riders evacuate in 2025?

This webinar presents findings on how transit riders in Los Angeles County evacuated during the 2025 fires and how they would evacuate in future fires. Based on a February 2025 survey of transit riders who evacuated, the research highlights evacuation experiences, emergency preparedness, and recommendations for transit and transportation agencies. While most evacuees relied on private vehicles, this work demonstrates the critical importance of capturing the experiences for people who may rely less on being able to evacuate quickly in their own cars and help to ensure people are not left behind in future disasters.
