Symposium on Measuring GHG Emissions from Mobile Sources at Different Geographic Scales

Measuring GHG emissions from mobile sources at the local jurisdiction is becoming more important for many reasons. The relevant geographic scale for such measurements ranges from the city to the county, up to the level of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Currently at the state-level two accounting methods are in use: a bottom-up and top-down method. This symposium will examine the relative merits of these two approaches and identify the value of developing additional methods and data sources for local jurisdictions.

Upcoming research on California's Climate Action Plans from Rui Wang and J.R. DeShazo

What have cities in California done to mitigate their impact on the climate? 
How do these Climate Action Plans vary across the cities?  Using state-wide survey data and interviews, this research will examine (1) the goals and design of the climate action plans adopted  by the Californian cities, and (2) the extent to which the elements of these plans have been adopted. 

Which cities translate promises into climate action? 
After politicians sign agreements or make promises to city-wide reduce emissions, which types of cities have followed through with steps necessary to reduce emissions. Which types of cities are more likely to complete their promises and why?
